Vaccination against respiratory syncytial virus: problems and progress.
نویسنده
چکیده
The respiratory syncytial (RS) viruses belong to the pneumovirus genus of the paramyxoviridae [65]. The virus genome is a single strand of negative sense R N A which is transcribed into ten major species of messenger RNA, each of which encodes a viral protein. Three glycoproteins are associated with the surface of the virion and the infected cell the a t tachment protein, G, the fusion protein, F, and a small hydrophobic protein of unknown function, SH or 1A. Two proteins are associated with the membrane , M1 and M2 or 22K. The major nucleocapsid protein, N, is associated with a phosphoprotein, P, and the putative polymerase protein L. In addition there are two non-structural proteins of, as yet, unknown function [65].

Prevention in respiratory syncytial virus infections.
Respiratory syncytial virus is the most important cause of viral lower respiratory illness in infants and children worldwide. By the age of 2 years, nearly every child has become infected with respiratory syncytial virus and re-infections are common throughout life. Most infections are mild and can be managed at home, but this virus causes serious diseases in preterm children, especially those ...
متن کاملMaternal Antibody Improves Active Neonatal Vaccination against Respiratory Syncytial Virus through Immune Complex
Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is a common infectious pathogen in infants. Vaccination is an important approach in the prevention of RSV infection in early age, but early vaccination is limited by low systemic and cellular immune responses. To overcome this difficulty, we in this study explored a novel vaccination strategy in a mouse model. Pregnant mother was vaccinated at day 14 of gestati...
متن کاملProtection of cotton rats against human respiratory syncytial virus by vaccination with a novel chimeric FG glycoprotein.
The cotton rat model of experimental human respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) infection was used to study the efficacy of FG, a novel chimeric glycoprotein which was expressed in insect cells using a baculovirus vector. FG contained the extracellular regions of the F (fusion) and G (attachment) glycoproteins of RSV. Vaccination with FG resulted in induction of neutralizing antibody and was corre...
متن کاملBovine Respiratory Syncytial Virus (BRSV) Pneumonia in Beef Calf Herds Despite Vaccination
The present report describes the clinical, pathological, serological and virological findings in calves from 2 larger Danish beef herds experiencing outbreaks of pneumonia. The calves had been vaccinated with an inactivated bovine respiratory syncytial virus (BRSV) vaccine 2 months prior to the outbreak. The clinical signs comprised nasal discharge, pyrexia, cough and increased respiratory rate...
متن کاملAccurance of Respiratory Syncytial Virus Infection in Children Referred to Kasra Hospital Diagnostic Laboratory during 2009-2011
Background and Aims: Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) infection is common in infants and young children. In infants younger than one year old it may cause bronchiolitis and pneumonia which requires hospitalization. Accurate and rapid diagnosis of the disease will help proper treatment of the disease and prevents further complications. Methods: Specimen taken from respiratory tract of sick chil...
